Mixologists have been fat-washing spirits for years. The process is very simple and allows you to enjoy the flavor of our Sicilian Nocellara olive oil in a delicious Italian liquor for an after dinner digestivo. Serve with parmigiano reggiano for an extra treat.
6 ounces blood orange liquor
2 teaspoons Olio Taibi Nocellara Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Pour liquor into an 8 oz glass jar. Add Olio Taibi Nocellara Extra Virgin Olive Oil, cover tightly with a screw top lid.
Shake jar to combine liquor and olive oil. Leave at room temperature for a couple hours, occasionally giving it a good shake.
Place jar of liquor/olive oil into the freezer overnight.
The next day, the olive oil will have solidified in a disk atop the liquor. Remove and discard.
Strain liquor through a cheesecloth lined mesh strainer to catch any other particles of fat.
